OMAHA — Thursday’s Omaha North Invitational was a track meet devoid of surprises. Kearney’s boys won their 121st consecutive invitational. Omaha North’s girls 400-meter relay still is dealing with injuries and still set a meet record. And the Vikings’ LaQue Moen-Davis improved on her state triple jump record and set two other meet records.

Kearney High boys find a sprinter [04/10/2010]
KEARNEY — Kearney High’s boys track team appears to have found another piece of the puzzle. A sprinter. Senior Steve Stumbough won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and ran on Kearney’s winning 4x100 relay team as the Bearcats rolled up more than 200 points Friday to win the Kearney High Invitational at Joe Greeno Field.

KEARNEY — In pole vaulting, like many sports, you sometimes have to take a step backward to go forward. After starting the season clearing 14 feet at the UNK Indoor Invitational, Kearney High pole vaulter Paul Bolin only made it over the bar at 13-0 at the Kearney High Indoor.

Bearcat boys keep winning streak alive [04/01/2010]
COLUMBUS — The Kearney High boys track team kept its winning streak alive Thursday, doing it in an old-fashioned way. Scoring in 16 of the 17 events — the 400 traditionally without emphasis by coach Roger Mathiesen — the Bearcats scored 160 points at the Columbus Invitational, beating Millard West by 31 points. Fremont took third place with 81 points in a meeting of three of the top teams in Class A.

KEARNEY — The Kearney High boys track team has established its “big hitters.” Some are known, some are new. Led by its throwers and middle distance runners, the Bearcats posted a few good marks Friday at the KHS Indoor at UNK’s Cushing Coliseum.

KEARNEY — A new season, the same old results for the Kearney High boys track team. One-two-three finishes in the shot put, discus and 800-meter run helped the Bearcats win their 117th straight invitational championship Saturday at the University of Nebraska at Kearney High School Indoor Invitational. Kearney scored 138 points to runner-up Lincoln North Star’s 89.
