Chatelain wins four events at KHS invite [ 03/21/2008 ]
KEARNEY — Kearney High’s Jack Chatelain won four events to lead the Bearcats’ dominating performance at Thursday’s Kearney High Invitational.
Chatelain won both hurdles races, the high jump and the triple jump, posting a 45-foot, 5½-inch mark in the triple jump.
No team score was kept at the meet that included Grand Island, Omaha South, Omaha Northwest and Gothenburg.
The Bearcats’ Josh Mead was a double winner in the 55- and 200-meter dashes, Matt Trampe won the 800 and the 1,600 and Drew Nelson won the shot put and discus.
Kearney was exceptionally strong in the 800 and shot put, taking the top five places in both events.
The Bearcats took the top four spots in the triple jump and the top three spots in the 55-meter dash, the 3,200-meter run, the high jump, the pole vault, the long jump and the discus.
Other winners for Kearney were Chase Bolin in the 400, David Prater in the 3,200 and Nate Polacek in the pole vault.
