LaQue Moen-Davis continued her attack on the girls all-time track and field charts with two more marks from Friday night's Dick Jones Invitational.
Omaha Central's Deverell Biggs misses at 6 feet, 10 inches in the boys high jump. He won the event with a leap of 6-8.
The Omaha Central sophomore is second in the 100 high hurdles at 14.15 and third in the triple jump at 40 feet.
"She's as good as she wants to be," Central girls coach Trent Lodge said. "It's unlimited right now as to what she can do." Moen-Davis, still only age 15, said the triple jump mark pleased her the most.
"It was a nice day, so I had a good chance," she said. "(In the hurdles), my coaches have been trying to get me to 13.9 and I didn't get it, but I got closer."
Kearney's boys had an easier time than coach Roger Mathiesen anticipated in facing 2008 state runner-up Millard West for the second time this week to join the Bearcat girls in sweeping the team titles at the 26th annual meet at Burke Stadium.
The defending state champion won eight of the 17 events on an ideal spring evening for a commanding 186-117 cushion over Millard West. It was the 113th consecutive invitational title for Kearney, a streak that started 16 years ago.
"This is as a good of a performance that we've had as a team, across the board, for a long time," Mathiesen said. "What surprised me the most is that we had a track meet in very unkind conditions a week ago Thursday, then had to run Monday at Columbus. This is three very big meets in nine days. In college, you don't do that."
David Prater was a double winner for the Bearcats in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, with Brandt Humphrey winning the 800. The Bearcats won the 400 relay when Central was disqualified for a lane violation, after they used junior-varsity runners to win the 3,200 relay in 8:16.18.
In field events, Kearney's winners were Dillon Snider in the discus at 159-9 and Jack Chatelain in the triple jump at 45-7½. Brandi Winchester ran a season-best 46.75 in the 300 hurdles and Maggie Maher cleared 11-0 in the pole vault to lead Kearney's girls, coached by Pat McFadden, to a 111-87 advantage over runner-up Columbus. Maher and Winchester also ran laps on the winning 1,600 relay.
"We talked to the kids this week about how hard we've worked to this point and now we're in the middle in the season and have a ways to go, but we like where we are right now," McFadden said. "Last week, we went against Lincoln Southwest, which has tremendous individuals, and we had horrible conditions. So two weeks in a row we've had great competition."
