Weather brings an early end to GNAC track

NORFOLK — A cold rain Friday afternoon brought an early end to the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference track and field championships at Johnny Carson Field in Norfolk.
Only two field events for girls and three for boys were completed before coaches from the eight schools voted at 4:10 p.m. to cancel the meet after the only track events, the girls and boys 4x800-meter relays.
Norfolk’s Anthony Juhlin was declared the winner of the pole vault, even though Kearney’s vaul-ters had yet to enter the competition.
